TRADITIONS

A raga is not a scale or a song. It is a melodic personality — a framework of notes, phrases, and emotional associations that the musician inhabits and explores in real time. Each raga carries its own character, its own time of day, its own emotional world. Within its rules lies complete freedom, and the greatest classical performances happen in exactly that space: between structure and spontaneity. Trained in the guru-shishya parampara as a Gandabandhan disciple of Pt. Alok Lahiri of the Maihar gharana, Souryadeep brings this tradition's emphasis on melodic depth, tonal richness, and emotional truth to every classical performance. Explore his music below!
